VRE has added a 3:38 p.m. train to help commuters avoid late child-care charges and accommodate the early morning commuters with an early afternoon return trip. The train will leave from Union Station and head south to Fredericksburg. VRE has also added a 6:50 p.m. train that leaves Union Station and takes passengers to Manassas.

If you like heading home early on Friday afternoons, you should check out VRE's Jump Start program. Buses leave at 1 p.m. and make stops at nearly all VRE train stations. There are four routes to choose from.

Taking VRE to work can be an appealing option to commuters who want to avoid the construction altogether. Easy connections with Metrorail and Metrobus, the Fairfax CONNECTOR, and Alexandria DASH buses deliver hundreds of work locations within easy walking distance. In addition, it provides passengers with extra time to sleep, read, work and relax before arriving at work or home.
